Managing and assessing internal controls with ARCM

Technip
Benjamin Leistner

After an introduction of the internal control framework implemented by Technip and the objectives of Technip's internal control assessment process, it will be recalled that the Audit Committee and General Management request a strong internal control system in the context of a strict regulatory framework and the specific industrial environment in which Technip operates. Consequently, the monitoring of internal controls needs tools to be efficiently embedded into business practices and to responsibalize process and control owners. Technip chose the Aris Risk and Compliance tools in order to face these challenges. In particular, Technip leverages the test functions to ease and streamline the testing process and collection of results. The deficiency evaluation and issue management functions enable the follow-up of action plans to track deficiencies and implement remediations more efficiently. The survey module allows Management to actively participate in the evaluation process thanks to easy handling. Besides those already implemented modules, Technip will put in place the 'sign-off' module and, in order to communicate on results and analysis, the Process Performance Manager. Finally, internal controls will be modelized in the business process models of the ERP Project in order to guarantee that strong internal controls will be set up from the start.

Cash Flow Generation Through Cutting of Cycles Times

Clariant International AG
Dr. Jörg Schmid

Improving the cash flow is the major focus in a lot of companies in these days. From a process point of view, the key lever for sustainable improvement is the reduction of cycle times.
In addition, we need to defend our market position. The optimization of our Order-to-Cash process is a Business critical building block in this respect. A key element is the measurement of customer related performance indicators like OTIF (On time in full deliveries). times.
The use of the PPM (Process Performance Manager) allows an almost real time measurement and monitoring of performance indicators and their target deviations on an operative level to support the SC line management. By integrating the revealed improvement potential into our six sigma initiative we ensure a sustainable realization. In addition this creates further synergy as the PPM is a powerful enhancement for the „Analysis“ phase and facilitates the required monitoring in the „Control“ phase.

BPA - The Smooth Way to SOA

CETELEM ČR, a.s.
Pavel Sytař

This presentation will discuss Cetelem’s BPA Suite project: their experience during implementation, the business benefits they’ve gained, and their plans for the future. It will also discuss key factors in the success of the project, and advice for maximizing the tool’s effectiveness.
Highlights:
- Cetelem needed a business process modelling tool to describe their own business processes in unified notation within the Group, at the request of their parent company
- Advantage of BPA Suite: built-in capability for integration with SOA, since Cetelem is considering implementing SOA in the future
- Implementation: worked with Oracle Consulting to get familiar with the tool and create business process models
- Cetelem has now expanded its use of the tool beyond the parent company’s requirements, and plans to extend it to still more business processes
- Key factor in the project’s success: close collaboration between business users and IT
- Advice and examples for how to maximize effectiveness of BPA by facilitating internal cooperation and information-sharing, e.g. by using Business Publisher
- Future plans: Business Process Blueprint; integration with SOA to gain end-to-end lifecycle management of business processes, from modelling to execution
